The HWIS TRIFECTA

TRIFECTA

3 Pathways in 1 School

Hong Wen International School (HWIS) offers three globally recognized academic pathways — AP , IB Diploma Program (IBDP) , and Cambridge iGCSE/A Levels — so every student can pursue the program that best matches their strengths, learning style, and university goals.

TRIFECTA Guide

Why TRIFECTA

Middle school is not about locking students into a single track. It's about discovering how students learn best, building strong foundations, and making an informed choice at the right time. TRIFECTA is designed to keep options open while guiding every student toward a best-fit pathway.

The HWIS Student Journey

3 Pathways

Overview FAQs

Do students need to choose a pathway in Grade 7 or 8?
No. Grades 7-8 are foundational years. HWIS uses this time to observe, guide, and support students as they discover strengths and learning style.
Does IGCSE force students into A Levels?
No. After Grades 9-10 IGCSE, students may choose A Levels, AP, or IBDP.
Are all three pathways recognized by global universities?
Yes. AP, IBDP, and Cambridge qualifications are widely recognized internationally. The best choice depends on fit and goals.
How does HWIS help students choose the right pathway?
Through academic advising, teacher feedback, and evidence-based planning that matches student strengths with future aspirations.

Compare Pathways

Each pathway serves a different type of learner. None is inherently “better” — the best pathway is the one that aligns with your child.

AP PathwayFlexible

Best for: Strong test takers; analytical and self-disciplined students

Style: Flexible, course-by-course rigor

Strengths developed: Exam confidence, targeted subject strength, independent pacing

IB Diploma (IBDP)Balanced

Best for: Well-rounded learners with a global mindset

Style: Balanced program with 6 subjects + core (TOK/EE/CAS)

Strengths developed: Writing, research, critical thinking, resilience, personal growth

Cambridge A LevelsDepth

Best for: Specialized, academically focused students ready for depth

Style: University-style specialization (typically 3-4 subjects)

Strengths developed: Deep conceptual mastery, theoretical thinking, independent study

"What happens when students change?" Students develop rapidly. After IGCSE, HWIS supports families in choosing the pathway that best fits the student's current strengths and goals — not early assumptions.

Compare Pathways FAQs

Can students switch pathways after IGCSE?
In many cases, yes. Pathway decisions are guided by readiness, subject strengths, and future plans.
Which pathway is the most difficult?
Each is challenging in different ways. Difficulty depends on how well the program matches a student's strengths and learning style.
How do I know which one fits my child best?
A strong match usually becomes clear through performance trends, learning habits, and advising conversations during Grades 7-10.
