WASC

HWIS has been approved as a candidate school by the Accrediting Commission for Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

What is WASC? [https://acswasc.org/]
ACS WASC is an international accrediting body that evaluates schools on learning, well‑being, and continuous improvement. Accreditation assures families that Hong Wen International School meets rigorous standards and is committed to growth.

Our 2025–26 Self‑Study Journey

  • 2025: Build our School Profile, collect evidence, and run stakeholder surveys (students, parents, staff).
  • 2025–2026: Draft category narratives A–E (Organization; Curriculum; Instruction; Assessment; Student Support & Culture; Resources/Operations; Boarding) and develop the Schoolwide Action Plan (SWAP) v1.
  • 2026: Pre‑visit readiness: finalize uploads, staff/parent briefings, and a campus mock visit.
  • Visit: A Visiting Committee will observe classes, review evidence, and meet with students, parents, and staff.
  • Post‑Visit: Adopt the Schoolwide Action Plan (SWAP) v2 with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report progress regularly.

How our community can participate

  • Complete short surveys and share specific examples of strengths/needs.
  • Join parent/staff focus groups; volunteer artifacts (handbooks, rubrics, student work).
  • Read our ESLRs/learning outcomes and ask how they show up in daily practice.
  • Track progress on our public WASC timeline and monthly highlights.

Why it matters
Accreditation strengthens teaching and student support, aligns resources to learning goals, and improves university recognition of HWIS transcripts.
